Welcome to Cartrizz! This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect (very little), why we collect it, and how we keep it safe when you use cartrizz.com.

1. You Can Use Cartrizz Without an Account

No login required. Without an account, your grocery list, categories, and items are saved only in your browser's local storage on this device - they'll still be there if you close the tab or refresh, but they aren't backed up anywhere. Clearing your browser data, switching browsers, or switching devices will lose them. Log in or create a free account to sync everything and keep it safe for good.

2. Information We Collect When You Create an Account

You have two ways to create an account so your lists are saved across devices:

• Sign in with Google - We receive your Google user ID and email address. Google handles the authentication; see Google's Privacy Policy for how they handle your data.
• Email + password signup - We store the email address you enter and a securely hashed password (we never see or store your actual password).

When you have an account, we also store:

• Your grocery list items, quantities, checked-off status, and custom items
• Custom categories you create
• Your meal plans (if you use the Meal Planner feature)
• Basic timestamps (when you signed up and last used the app)

We never collect or store:

• Your name or profile picture
• Payment information (the app is free)
• Location, contacts, photos, or any other personal data

3. Cookies and Local Storage

We use:

• Session cookies - To keep you logged in while using the app
• Local storage - To remember your theme preference, and, if you're not logged in, to save your grocery list, categories, and items directly on your device so they're there when you come back

Local storage never leaves your device or gets sent to us - it's not something we can see or access. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics, or any third-party advertising.

4. How We Use Your Information

One reason only: to save your grocery lists, meal plans, custom items, and preferences so they're waiting for you next time on any device.

5. Hosting and Data Storage

Cartrizz is hosted on Hostinger. Your data is stored in an encrypted database on their servers. We use HTTPS everywhere, hash passwords, and follow industry-standard security practices.

6. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to anyone, ever, except:

• Google's servers handle authentication if you choose "Sign in with Google"
• As required by law

7. Deleting Your Data

You're in full control:

• Delete individual items anytime from your list
• Delete your account from Account Settings - this permanently deletes your email, password hash, lists, categories, meal plans, everything

8. Your Rights

Email us anytime to see what data we have or to request deletion.

9. Children's Privacy

Cartrizz is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We'll update this page if anything changes. The "Last Updated" date at the top always shows the current version.
